Calperum & Taylorville

  Calperum & Taylorville Stations are owned by the Australian Government and contracted back to community members to manage through the Australian Landscape Trust Inc.

  Calperum & Taylorville Stations covers 338,200 Ha and has been divided into 15 areas for Community Land Managers (volunteers) to manage.

 

Calperum & Taylorville Project Activities:

 Agreement activities CLM members manage on Calperum & Taylorville Stations:

  • Control of total grazing pressure by reducing goat and rabbit numbers.
  • Predator control by reducing / eliminating populations of foxes and cats.
  • Asset maintenance by keeping access tracks clear of vegetation and boundary fencing in good condition.
  • Revegetation activities by re-establishing native pine woodlands.
  • Out-station Maintenance.
  • Removal of Rubbish.

 

Other activities CLM members are involved in on Calperum & Taylorville Stations:

  • Mallee fowl grid surveys.
  • Rain gauge data collection.
  • Kangaroo surveys.
  • Spotlight surveys.
  • Vertebrate surveys.
  • Out-station renovation and maintenance (Oak Bore).
  • Educating children and adults about environmental issues.
  • Demonstrating the role of community in care of public lands.
  • Providing a model for other communities to undertake similar activities elsewhere.
  • Developing resource materials, handbooks and other manuals to assist groups elsewhere to provide management services to land and wildlife in their regions.
  • Providing hands-on teaching and demonstration services for other communities where invited to do so.
